By choosing to give each month, our Visionaries are creating a powerful ripple effect and providing opportunity to thousands of students who will shape and support their communities for generations to come.
Every month, our community is making an impact and investing in a shared vision for a better future.
“I am honored to be part of this giving community, especially given our family's dedication to the advancement of women who will become leaders and innovators in their local and global communities. I have been so fortunate to be surrounded by confident, intelligent, and creative women who value their contributions to society and serve as changemakers in their respective industries. My hope is that reliable, consistent giving can support this organization’s strategic planning and growth, directly translating to increased access and opportunities for women's development and promotion, and ultimately the spaces and places they influence around them.”
- Corinne Zimmer
"If the past 18 months have shown us anything, it's that we need a fresh generation of leaders. To thrive, the world will need to address the impacts of pandemics, climate change and inequality and more. These challenges are felt even more keenly in East Africa - so why shouldn't the leadership we need to tackle these obstacles arise from here? Davis College and Akilah are doing vital work in equipping young leaders from across the region to step up and help tackle these challenges (and opportunities!) - and it's a pleasure to support them in this mission.”
- Karim Amade
“I am deeply passionate about this mission because I believe education to be a gateway for freedom and independence for women. It is critical, and can change the trajectory of our future. A world with more soft skills such as compassion, empathy, creativity, community and understanding. This is essential at this time in our history. By keeping my intention set on giving each month, I get to be in the close energy of giving all the time. I believe this has a ripple effect of keeping giving in my heart, which extends to all I do with intention.”
- Tracy Sanders
Akilah was founded in 2009 to create opportunities for young people who wouldn’t otherwise have them. At the time, less than 1% of Rwandans enrolled in higher education, and only 30% of them were female. Our institution was the first female-only college in the country.
Building on our decade of experience and expertise, we launched Davis College in 2020 to expand access to our unique and transformative academic model to young men.
Today, we've graduated thousands of students from across East Africa. Through our programs, our graduates have built inspiring careers while defining success on their own terms.
