A New Chapter
Since 2010, the Akilah Institute has empowered over 6,000 students in Rwanda through life-changing diploma and certificate programs in leadership, business management, entrepreneurship, information systems, and hospitality & tourism management.
By 2020, we expanded our mission with the launch of Davis College, a co-ed campus that opened doors for young men.
In 2024, we graduated our final diploma students and closed our rented Kigali campus to embark on a bold new journey: becoming an accredited university with a permanent campus.
Our New Model
Akilah is focusing on the liberal arts and contemplative leadership.
We believe that true leadership extends beyond external achievements—it stems from inner wisdom, ethical integrity, and a profound sense of purpose.
Our mission is to educate wise leaders dedicated to the flourishing of all. True leadership arises from a deep connection to the divine and a commitment to serve others.
Akilah will offer a diverse range of bachelor’s degrees in the humanities and sciences, including philosophy, psychology, biology, physics, and literature.

Our Graduates
86% of our alumnae are employed within six months of graduating, and 89% of graduates are supporting at least one individual or family member financially.
From 2010-2024, Akilah was an accredited technical college in Kigali.
Today, we’re planning a permanent home outside the city.
Unlike our previous urban setting, this new campus will provide space for student housing, sports facilities, and an environment that supports personal and academic growth.
